National flag images

Here are some free images of national flags. You can use them anywhere: credit me if you want.

These flags are small images (30 × 18 pixels, except for three irregular flags) designed for use as icons in Windows applications, Web pages, etc., so in some cases — especially the Pacific island flags with complex crests and shields — I've had to sacrifice the more elaborate detail.

The filenames are Internet domain codes, so it's easy to use them for Web and e-mail addresses. In most cases, these codes are also the ISO country codes, but not always. For example, ISO's gb (Great Britain) is uk (United Kingdom) on the Internet, and there are a few "country" TLDs for non-countries, such as aq for Antarctica and je for the British island of Jersey.

I created the flags from a list of TLDs in 2005, so any domain created since then — or any domain that was obsolete by then, such as su or zr — might not have an image. Nag me for additions.
