Epitaph
The day I leave this life behind
Don't cry for me, or grieve,
Or say "he seeks a better place"
For I did not believe.
No flowers on my grave; no hymns
Or tears for the departed.
Flowers die, too. I cried my tears;
Death heals the broken-hearted.
Forget me. You will find no joy
In mourning for my sake.
My one ambition, now achieved,
To sleep and never wake.
Go out; have fun; live all your dreams;
Find love beneath blue skies.
And when you're tired, or hurt, or sad,
Remember how time flies.
To all the friends I never made
This epitaph I give:
"Because he could not learn to die
He never learned to live."
