Ice

I've never known destruction so constructive
As the crying room you built with no doors.
Entombed behind your arctic wall
To see, but not to touch.

Are you afraid to share?
Do you enjoy being an enigma?
Or is your storehouse emptier than it seems?
You confuse me.

We are locked together
But I am frozen to the outside of your cell.
Is this revenge for when my wicked brothers left you desolate?

I can take your hand
But your eyes will stare ahead
Into a light I cannot see.

My open arms are full of snow
And your footprints, small twins,
Wait outside a locked door.

We will never be close. And now
I am too chilled to protest.

Frozen tears...

Soon I will hallucinate and dream that I know you.
Soon I will be one shard in a landscape of crystals.
And soon, I will lie numb and still
While, deep within your temple walls,
A single flame burns on.
